News From Freelance-land
My last post was titled “Where I’ve Been” and tried to give many excuses as to my lack of posting here and in the sketchbook. I promised more posts, but alas I let you down. Well this post is a milestone for about 100 reasons, but I’ll share but a few of the important happenings around here...
Will Work for Food
I’ve driven my last long commute up north and have said many hard good-byes. I’m no longer getting monthly paychecks from one employer. I’ve entered into the world of freelance graphic design and illustration. Am I loving it? So far, two days in, I’m really enjoying it. The fear of finding enough work to keep me plenty busy is keeping me plenty focused.
If you want to have me create something for you, check out what I do and then contact me.
Featured
It’s been a really good week to kick off my new career, as my work’s been featured in a couple of prominent places. The good folks over at Drawn have written some kind words and linked here, a feat that has caused my hits to nearly triple. It’s a joy to know I might be on the right track with my art. They know their stuff and I’ve subscribed to their feed for a year. It’s an honor to be featured among so many people I admire. Great stuff.
The fine new replacement to MySpace (thank you), VIRB, has featured my profile in their “in rotation” section. Not enough good things can be said about how much better this social networking site is compared to the other sludge out there. I was enticed by the ease of customization and a week after I played with mine, I was featured for my content. It’s another way for me to get the word out about what I do - and so far it’s been a huge blessing. (Get over there and make a profile. I add everyone, so you know you’ll have at least one friend.)
Finally...
The other huge news is that I’ve finally gone and joined the ranks. I bought my first mac this week, a 20” iMac. I’m excited to finally make the jump. My old laptop’s screen is ailing, giving me color issues galore. I’ve wanted to switch for a long time now. The waits over.... I’ll post some photos of my workspace soon.
